Family rafting trip on the Savegre River!

There are some great whitewater rafting rivers here in Costa Rica for the whole family. Starting at age 12, these recommended rafting sections are great for the whole family and for first time rafters in Costa Rica. Up to lighter class III rapids, these rivers provide a great time, but also not too intense for some members of the family.

Savegre River, lower section. Often referred to as the ‘Rio Blanco Silencio’ of the Savegre River, this section has a lot of class II rapids and a few fun class III sections ideal for the family.

Of course as with any river it depends upon the river levels at the time of your trip, but this section is pretty ideal all year long for rafting. Typically for the month of October it is at it’s peak level and in March it is at it’s lowest level. Peak level and lowest level offer different rapids and challenges, it does not necessarily mean it is easier at a lower water level.

This trip includes transportation from Playa Dominical, San Isidro del General, Uvita, and $5 additional for trips in Manuel Antonio.

The Rio Guabo (pictured above) is another great river for rafting. This river has a much shorter season for rafting as it does not get as much water as the Savegre River. The Rio Guabo typically is a great river for rafting anytime from June to November.

The Rio Guabo is very close to Playa Dominical and Uvita, and features class II and III rapids.

This a trip that offer 14 Kilometers of rafting and is about a 2 1/2 hour journey
